Once upon a time there lived a princess. Because she was extremely beautiful and wise, princes from all over the world came forward and asked for her hand. In the end, there were 5 princes left.
The princess could not make up her mind so she 'clenched her fist', leaving just a finger out. She would then marry the one who can guess correctly which finger that is.
* The first prince gave a stupid face and stuck up his thumb
* The 2nd prince happily stuck up his 2nd finger
* The 3rd gave a stupider face and showed his middle finger and got a slap
* The 4th faint after showing his 4th finger
AND finally the 5th one showed his little finger and the princess hooked it.
The prince and the princess lived happily. Therefore joined pinkies [last fingers] are then regarded as the vow of marriage which later become a symbol of promise
A few years later, the prince had to fight a war. Before leaving, he hooked the princess's pinky tightly and promised her he'll be back.
However after 10 years, there was still no news bout' him. Many princes came forward to ask for her hand again. She rejected repeatedly and finally she gave up and agreed to marry anyone who can hook her pinky finger.
Just then, a beggar came to look for the princess. The guards die die also refused to let him in but the princess say that everyone is equal and so she let him in. It was then she realised that was her lost prince.
The next morning when she woke up, she realised that the prince is gone. Truth is that the prince was killed on his way home and that day he returned to the palace was the 49th day after his death.
He returned with the pinky promise of " I'll be back ".
this is like so true, i got it from huangyi's blog..and i totally agree with she said "while a dead person is trying to keep his promise, the living one broke promises one after another" isn't this a sad thing? but sadly, it keeps happening in our everyday's life..
